Genova to eat, with a guide

Three hours in the center of Genoa with a local guide, in at least four stops: pasta al pesto, focaccia, a cone of fried fish, Ligurian wine and gelato. It’s a full meal on foot, with the stories of Ligurian cuisine told by someone who lives there.

Genoa, traditional food tour

The experience

The tour starts in the heart of Genova and lasts 3 hours, in a small group, with an English-speaking guide who tells the stories and traditions of Ligurian cuisine. The possible tastings, in at least four stops, are those in the listing: a plate of pesto pasta with trofie or trenette, focaccia, a cone of fried fish, a Ligurian wine and, to finish, an artisanal ice cream. The pesto is tasted in the typical alleys of the city.

Some warnings. The tastings may change with the season, availability and time of day. Water and one alcoholic drink, usually local wine, are included: the rest of the food and drink is paid for separately. It is a walking tour, with stops but also sections of 10-15 minutes of continuous walking, and the listing indicates it as not suitable for those with mobility difficulties. The meeting point changes according to the option: you see it at the time of booking.

The price starts from $60 per person (GetYourGuide, October 2026), with free cancellation up to 24 hours before; under 10s have a reduced price and under 5s participate for free, but a ticket is still required. The Aquarium is not included: the official fixed-date ticket starts from 26 euros online, between 26 and 34 euros depending on the date and time slot, and costs 34 euros at the ticket desk. To combine tanks and the historic centre on the same day, see the guide on how to get to the Aquarium.

Tips before booking

  • Arrive a little hungry: the listing mentions a full meal, and one review warns that "there is plenty for everyone".
  • Write allergies and dietary restrictions when you book.
  • Comfortable shoes: there are 10-15 minute walks between stops.
  • Check your option’s meeting point before leaving: it is not the same for all.
