To book: The Aquarium entry ticket, from $37 per person. Check dates Tour details
The Aquarium of Genoa’s hours do not fit in one line. The operator is open 365 days a year, but the calendar alternates different slots: on some days it closes at 19:30, on others at 20:00, and on others at 22:00. Then there is the half-hour printed on the ticket, which is the time that really counts.
We list the time bands published on the opening hours and calendar page in October 2026. The day-by-day calendar is there: check it for your date before buying.
The short answer
The Aquarium is open every day of the year, with three possible slots: 9:00-20:00, 10:00-19:30 or 9:00-22:00. The last entry is always 2 hours before closing. You enter in the booked half-hour, and the visit lasts about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
What time does the Aquarium of Genoa open?
At 9:00 or 10:00, depending on the day: the official calendar has three opening slots.
The table summarises the three slots. Which one applies to your date is only stated by the calendar, updated by the operator on their website. On 15 October 2026, the page header said 'Open 09:00 - 20:00 // Last entry 18:00'.
Being open all year does not mean everything is visible. The operator warns that some areas or tanks may be under maintenance and closed to the public.
| Opening | Closing | Last entry |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00 | 20:00 | 18:00 |
| 10:00 | 19:30 | 17:30 |
| 9:00 | 22:00 | 20:00 |
What is the last entry time at the Aquarium?
Two hours before closing: at 17:30, 18:00 or 20:00, depending on the day’s slot.
With a visit of about 2 hours and 30 minutes, those who enter at the last entry have their time counted. Long stops, such as lunch or a break at the Cetacean Pavilion, must be planned beforehand.
The entry ticket listing on GetYourGuide also repeats this: opening hours change with the season and the last entry is 2 hours before closing.

How do the entry time slots work?
You enter in half-hour slots: date and slot are booked and must be respected, even with combined tickets.
With the Data Fissa ticket, you choose the half-hour when you buy. With Open Flexi, you book it later in the reserved area, and you can change it once up to 2 hours before. In the AcquarioVillage and PianetAcquario combined tickets, the slot only binds the Aquarium; the other attractions are visited within the ticket’s validity.
Those who buy on GetYourGuide enter in the same way. The entry ticket and the combined ticket with Galata are valid on the chosen date and time slot. In combined tickets with the Lanterna or the Città dei Bambini, however, the chosen time slot concerns the other attraction: the Aquarium's must be booked separately on ticket.acquariodigenova.it/biglietti-open.
Entry on the date and in the half-hour slot you choose, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before if you change plans.

The terms of sale do not allow tolerance: you cannot enter on a different date or in a different slot from the one on your ticket.
Article 7 of the sales conditions is clear: «It will therefore not be possible to access the Aquarium of Genoa on a date or time slot different from the one indicated on the ticket itself». A margin of a few minutes is not published anywhere, and we do not invent one.
In practice: calculate the journey and parking before your half-hour. Directions by train, bus and car are in the how to get there guide. With Open Flexi you can change the time slot once, but only up to 2 hours before entry.
How many hours does it take to visit the Aquarium?
About 2 hours and 30 minutes, according to the operator; there is no maximum duration.
Once inside, you can stay as long as you like, but each ticket is valid for one entry only: if you exit, you cannot re-enter. If you add lunch or an experience like 'A tu per tu con i delfini', which lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes, the day gets longer.
With a combined ticket, the second attraction also counts. The Galata, the Lanterna and the Città dei Bambini have their own hours, which must be checked separately before setting the Aquarium’s half-hour.

Entry and lunch at Tender in one ticket: sandwich with chips and a drink, served from 11:30 to 16:00.

The operator does not indicate a best time; they only state that the price also changes with the entry time and that 'the earlier you buy, the less you spend'.
The dynamic price takes into account season, date, entry time and demand. For this reason, two half-hours on the same day can have different prices, within the range of 26 to 34 euros for adults. Before buying, compare a few slots: it is the only official data linking time to choice.
On days with closing at 22:00, the last entry is at 20:00, an extra option if you spend the day elsewhere. Remember, however, that the Wednesday promotion for Genoa residents excludes evening openings.

Which are the least crowded days?
The operator does not publish data on crowd levels by day or hour, and we do not invent any.
What they do publish are the half-hour slots for entry and the dynamic prices, which also change with demand. Their advice, repeated on several pages, is to buy early.
For those living in Genoa or the province, there is one day with a special price: on Wednesdays, excluding holidays and evening openings, at the ticket desk you pay 17 euros with a residence document. Other reductions are in the tickets guide.
Three entries in one ticket: Aquarium, Galata Museo del Mare and submarine, on the selected date and in the selected slot.

The times in the table come from the operator's pages and the tour listings. The lunch included in the ticket with lunch is consumed at Tender from 11:30 to 16:00, according to the listing. Guided experiences have a fixed time and must be booked days in advance.
