The Aquarium of Genoa with children

The Aquarium of Genoa is built without barriers: with a pushchair you follow the same route as everyone. Here you will find how much children pay at each age, tickets with the Children's City, where to change them and where to eat, with the Aquarium's rules.

For a family, three things matter: the price by age, the route with a pushchair and the lunch break. The Aquarium publishes them on its tickets, services, and FAQ pages; we list them here in order.

The visit lasts about 2 hours and 30 minutes, but there is no maximum time. A warning: once you exit, you cannot re-enter with the same ticket.

The short answer

Children from 0 to 3 years enter free; from 4 to 12 years the child ticket online costs from 16 to 25 euros, from 13 years you pay the full price. The combined ticket with the Children's City costs 42 euros for adults, AcquarioVillage 51 euros. The Aquarium is barrier-free for pushchairs, has 6 bathrooms with changing tables and an outdoor picnic area. At the ticket desk, with 2 paying adults and at least 3 children aged 4-12, the third child enters free.

How much do children pay at the Aquarium of Genoa?

Up to 3 years free; from 4 to 12 years the child ticket costs online from 16 to 25 euros, depending on date and time slot.

The child ticket also follows the dynamic price: it changes with the season, date, time and demand, and costs less when you buy early. From 13 years upwards, the adult ticket applies, from 26 to 34 euros online.

Pay attention to the free age, which varies from ticket to ticket. With the single ticket and with PianetAcquario, children are free up to 3 years; with AcquarioVillage and with the combined Aquarium and Children's City, they are free only up to 1 year. For children with disabilities aged 4-12, the Aquarium recommends the child ticket, which costs less than the reduced price.

How do tickets with the Children's City work?

The combined Aquarium and Children's City ticket costs 42 euros for adults; AcquarioVillage, which adds Bigo and Biosfera, 51 euros. You book the Children's City first, then the Aquarium.

The Città dei Bambini e dei Ragazzi is in Porto Antico, managed like the Aquarium by Costa Edutainment. On the tickets page, the single ticket for the Città costs 12 euros (13 euros Open Flexi). With AcquarioVillage, which is valid for one year, when you buy you book the date and time slot for the Città; the Aquarium time slot is booked afterwards, in your reserved area. Bigo and Biosfera do not require booking.

On GetYourGuide there is the Aquarium and Città dei Bambini ticket. The listing describes over 3,000 square metres of play space, 5 rooms for the 5 senses and no mandatory route. The date and time of the booking concern the Città: the Aquarium time slot must be booked separately on ticket.acquariodigenova.it/biglietti-open, as the listing states.

Can you enter with a pushchair?

Yes. The Aquarium was built without architectural barriers, for people with disabilities and for children in pushchairs, and the route is the same for everyone.

Along the route, marked by blue panels and totems, you will find these services:

  • baby corner: 6 toilets with changing tables;
  • elevators, with Braille signs and voice announcements of the floor;
  • rest areas and hot and cold drink vending machines;
  • the cloakroom for clothes and luggage, at 3 euros per item.

Scooters, bicycles and skateboards are not allowed. Animals are also not allowed, except guide dogs. All the rules are in the rules and services guide.

Where do children eat at the Aquarium?

At Tender, the fast food halfway through, at the Gusto a Bordo restaurant or with a packed lunch, in the outdoor picnic area on the deck of the Nave Blu.

You cannot eat or drink in the exhibition rooms. The picnic area has tables and benches, «sheltered from the sun», and is designed precisely for packed lunches brought from home. The opening hours of the catering points are on the catering page:

  • Tender: sandwiches, hamburgers, pizza, focaccia, salads; every day from 8:30 to 17:30;
  • Gusto a Bordo: the restaurant on the deck of the Nave Blu, every day from 12:00 to 15:00.

There are packaged gluten-free foods. On GetYourGuide the Aquarium with lunch includes a sandwich with chips and a drink at Tender, from 11:30 to 16:00. For children, the listing provides a baby sandwich and a 0.30-litre drink; under 3s enter for free but lunch is not included.

Entry and lunch at Tender in the same ticket: sandwich, chips and a drink, also in the children's menu.

What do children like most?

The touch pool, where you can stroke the rays following the panels, and the large animals: dolphins, manatees, seals, penguins, sharks and the nine jellyfish tanks.

The touch pool is in the Padiglione Biodiversità, inside the Nave Blu. It is the only contact allowed with the animals: immersing yourself in the tanks is not permitted. There are no shows at the Aquarium. You walk along a route and watch, at the children's pace.

For those aged at least 6, there are two official experiences, only in Italian and with Aquarium entry to be paid separately. Minors under 18 participate with a paying adult who does the experience with them.

  • A tu per tu con i delfini: every day except Monday and Friday at 14:10, 1 hour and 45 minutes, maximum 6 people; adults 100 euros, children 6-12 years 89 euros. There is no physical contact with the dolphins, which is prohibited by Italian law.
  • A tu per tu con i pinguini: 1 hour and 30 minutes at 13:30, maximum 5 people; adults 60 euros, children 6-12 years 40 euros. You enter cold environments, with closed shoes with rubber soles, and pushchairs are not allowed.

Both must be booked at least 3 working days in advance. All experiences are in the dolphins and experiences guide.

Are there discounts for families?

Yes, at the ticket desk: with 2 adults paying the full price and at least 3 children aged 4-12, the third child enters free.

The «3rd child free» promotion applies only at the Aquarium ticket desks. If you live in Genoa or the province, there is also «Mercoledì dei genovesi»: on Wednesdays, excluding holidays and evening openings, 17 euros for adults, children and reduced, with a residence document. Both promotions are on the Aquarium page.

If you add other attractions, check the rules for children in the listings. For Aquarium, Galata and submarine, the listing asks for an ID document for children and states that tickets for children aged 4 to 6 must be bought on the spot, separately.
