The Aquarium is on the water, in the Porto Antico, the area of the historic port redeveloped for the 1992 Expo. You can easily walk there from Principe station, and two bus lines have their terminus right in front of the entrance.

Directions come from the how to get there page of the operator and its parking page, in October 2026. Calculate your time well: you can only enter in the half-hour written on the ticket.

The short answer

From Genova Piazza Principe station it is 10-15 minutes on foot, or take bus 32 or the metro to San Giorgio. From Brignole take bus 13 or the metro towards Brin. By car, exit at Genova Ovest; the Aquarium car park has 163 spaces and costs 3 euros per hour from 7:00 to 24:00.

Where is the Aquarium of Genoa?

In the Porto Antico of Genoa, on Ponte Spinola.

The reference point on land is Piazza Caricamento, the terminus of buses 1, 13 and 32 indicated by the operator. The metro stop mentioned in the official directions is San Giorgio. In the Porto Antico area there are also car parks, refreshment points, ATMs and toilets; the map of the area can be downloaded in PDF from the operator's FAQ.

From the Porto Antico, several boat trips also depart, some right next to the Aquarium entrance: you will find them in the last section. If on the same day you want to combine the sea and the tanks, it is best to fix the boat time first and then the Aquarium half-hour slot.

How to get to the Aquarium by train?

Get off at Genova Piazza Principe and walk 10-15 minutes, or take bus 32 or the metro; from Brignole, bus 13 or metro.

Both main stations are connected to the Aquarium by the metro, with the same arrival stop: San Giorgio. On the same page, the operator signals discounts for those arriving with Trenitalia trains, to be checked on its website.

Walking from Principe is the simplest choice if you travel light. With pushchairs or suitcases, bus 32 and the metro avoid the walk: with the metro, get off at San Giorgio, the stop indicated by the operator.
